Luckily, you have come to the right place! As a prosthodontics office, we here at Edmonds Dental Studio are experts in beautiful, safe, and effective tooth replacements. One of our most common appliances, complete dentures, may be the ideal solution for you!

Immediate and Conventional Dentures

A complete denture is a removable full-arch restoration that consists of prosthetic teeth set in a flesh-colored acrylic base. Replacing missing teeth with a complete denture can improve your ability to properly chew, speak, and smile. During your initial consultation, Dr. Hasan Dbouk will determine if you are a suitable candidate for an immediate denture, conventional denture, or both. Most people with substantial tooth loss still have problematic teeth that remain in the mouth. In these cases, we must first extract those teeth before we place a complete denture. An immediate denture, as the name suggests, is placed during the same appointment as your tooth extractions. During the healing period following your tooth extractions, your gum tissues may shrink or change shape. For this reason, an immediate denture is largely considered a temporary solution. Once your gums are healed, we can fabricate a conventional denture. This usually takes place about eight to twelve weeks after your tooth extractions.

Alternatives to Complete Dentures

Besides complete dentures, we also specialize in implant-supported prostheses. These prostheses are permanently fixed in your mouth, allowing your new appliance to look, feel, and function just like your natural teeth. The most common full-arch implant solutions include complete fixed bridges and overdentures. In many ways, implant-supported restorations have become the industry standard for tooth replacements. If you currently wear a denture, we may even be able to retrofit it with dental implants to provide additional support. The many benefits of dental implants have made these restorations far more popular in recent years. A complete denture may be the ideal solution for someone that requires a cost-effective and minimally invasive restoration. A well-fit denture can be a durable, successful, and beautiful way to replace missing teeth. Our use of advanced techniques and cutting-edge dental technology allows us to provide dentures that are more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing than ever before.

Caring for a Complete Denture

The proper care and maintenance can improve the appearance and longevity of your complete dentures. Even though they are artificial, dentures can still collect bacteria, plaque, and tartar that can affect your gums. A strong oral hygiene regimen can keep your appliance beautiful and your gums healthy. Be sure to clean your dentures every day, especially after eating. We recommend running clean water over them to dislodge food particles and reduce instances of plaque. Then, gently brush your denture with a soft toothbrush using a mild denture solution or soap. Regular toothpaste is too abrasive and may damage your appliance. While your dentures are out, be sure to handle them with care. We recommend holding them over a soft towel or a basin of water. This is also an excellent opportunity to clean your gums to reduce irritation or maintain proper oral health. Above all else, keep your dentures moist at all times. A dry denture can become warped or brittle. To avoid these complications, place your dentures in a glass of water or mild denture cleanser overnight.

Why Choose Complete Dentures

Benefits of Complete Dentures

A complete denture is a removable full-arch restoration — prosthetic teeth set in a flesh-colored acrylic base — that replaces an entire arch of missing teeth. Well-fitted dentures can restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile with confidence, and they offer a cost-effective, minimally invasive path back to a full smile.

Restores Chewing & Speech

Replacing a full arch of missing teeth helps you eat a wider range of foods and speak more clearly, supporting everyday comfort and confidence.

Full-Arch Tooth Replacement

A complete denture rebuilds an entire upper or lower arch at once, filling out your smile and helping to support your lips and facial appearance.

Cost-Effective & Minimally Invasive

As a removable option that does not require surgery, a complete denture can be an accessible, minimally invasive way to replace many missing teeth.

Immediate & Conventional Options

An immediate denture is placed the same day as extractions so you are never without teeth, while a conventional denture is crafted for a refined fit once your gums have healed.

Common Questions

Complete Dentures FAQ

An immediate denture is placed the same day any remaining teeth are extracted, so you are not without teeth during healing. A conventional denture is made after the gums have healed and reshaped, which usually takes about eight to twelve weeks after extractions. Because the gums shrink as they heal, an immediate denture is generally considered a temporary solution until a conventional denture can be fabricated.

Most people need an adjustment period of a few weeks to become comfortable eating and speaking with a new full-arch denture. Increased saliva flow, minor soreness, and a feeling of fullness are common at first and typically ease as the mouth adapts. Starting with soft foods and practicing speech can help. Individual experiences vary, and follow-up adjustments help improve fit and comfort.

Yes. The jawbone and gum tissue that support a removable denture gradually change shape after teeth are lost, which can loosen the fit over time. Periodic adjustments and a reline — refitting the base of the denture to the current shape of your gums — help keep the appliance stable and comfortable. Regular checkups let us evaluate fit, comfort, and the health of your gums.

Clean your dentures daily, especially after eating, by rinsing them under clean water and gently brushing with a soft toothbrush and a mild denture cleanser or soap — regular toothpaste is too abrasive. Handle them over a towel or basin of water to avoid damage if dropped, and keep them moist at all times by storing them in water or denture solution overnight so the base does not warp or become brittle.

Yes. Implant-supported options such as fixed full-arch bridges and overdentures use dental implants to anchor the restoration, which can improve stability, chewing, and comfort compared with a conventional removable denture. In many cases an existing denture can even be retrofitted with implants for added support. Schedule a consultation to determine whether a removable denture or an implant-supported option best fits your needs.
