Removable Dentures Edmonds, WA

Rendering of removable partial denture at Edmonds Dental Studio in Edmonds WAThese days, patients have more tooth replacement options than ever before. As a prosthodontic specialist, Dr. Hasan Dbouk at Edmonds Dental Studio specializes in both cutting-edge treatments and more traditional methods. One of our most common and conventional options is a removable denture. We offer both partial and complete removable dentures.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture typically consists of prosthetic teeth that attach to a pink or flesh-colored plastic base. This base, especially for the upper arch, looks similar to a conventional retainer. Most partials also have metal clasps that secure the restoration to the surrounding teeth. If you are concerned with aesthetics, we may recommend precision attachments, which eliminate the need for the metal clasps. A traditional bridge may also be a suitable alternative. We typically recommend a partial denture as a minimally invasive and cost-effective solution for missing teeth.

Complete Dentures

A complete denture is designed to replace all the teeth in the upper or lower arch. There are two types of complete dentures: conventional and immediate. A conventional denture is fabricated once the healing process is complete following the extraction of any remaining teeth. An immediate denture is made in advance and placed the same day as your extractions. This ensures you do not go without teeth during the healing process. It is important to note that an immediate denture is generally considered a temporary solution. We typically recommend a conventional denture once the gum tissues have completely healed. A conventional denture consists of a full arch of prosthetic teeth, set in an acrylic base.

The Denture Process

As with any restoration, the denture process begins with a consultation. Once you and Dr. Hasan Dbouk agree that a removable denture is right for you, we can begin treatment planning. Denture treatment typically takes a few weeks and several appointments. In general, we begin treatment with a series of impressions. These impressions will be used to create a model of your mouth, which allows us to determine the exact shape and position of your denture. We may go through several models before we are satisfied with the look, shape, color, and fit of your new denture. Once we have designed the ideal denture, we will begin the fabrication process and cast the final product. At the following appointment, we will place your new restoration. In some cases, we may need to make some last-minute adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.

Caring for Your Removable Denture

Maintaining a removable denture is a little different than a fixed appliance. There is typically a brief adjustment period as you get used to eating, speaking, and smiling with your new teeth. It is not unusual to experience some minor irritation or soreness during the first few weeks. Over time, these issues should diminish. Be sure to remove and rinse your denture following a meal. It is also important to keep your denture moist at all times. If your appliance dries out, it may warp or become brittle. We recommend keeping your denture in water or a mild soaking solution overnight. If this sounds like a lot, don’t panic. Dr. Hasan Dbouk will give you a detailed set of care instructions before you leave our office. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to give us a call. Our team is standing by to help you with all your denture needs.

Why Choose Removable Dentures

Benefits of Removable Dentures

Removable dentures replace missing teeth with prosthetic teeth set into a gum-colored acrylic base — a full arch for complete dentures, or a partial that clasps to your remaining teeth. They are a time-tested, minimally invasive way to restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile, and can be relined or adjusted over time to keep pace with the natural changes in your gums.

Restores Function & Appearance

A well-fitted denture rebuilds a full, natural-looking smile and helps you bite, chew, and speak more comfortably after tooth loss.

Cost-Effective Solution

Partial and complete dentures are among the more budget-friendly tooth-replacement options, making a full smile accessible for many patients.

Minimally Invasive

Because dentures rest on the gums or clasp to existing teeth, they typically require no surgery — a conservative way to replace one, several, or all of your teeth.

Adjustable & Repairable

As your gums and jaw change over time, dentures can be relined, adjusted, or repaired to maintain a comfortable, secure fit for years to come.

Common Questions

Removable Denture FAQ

A partial denture replaces one or several missing teeth while your remaining natural teeth stay in place; it uses a plastic base, sometimes with metal clasps or precision attachments, to anchor to those teeth. A complete (full) denture replaces all of the teeth in the upper or lower arch and rests on the gum ridge. Your dentist recommends one based on how many teeth are missing and the health of the remaining teeth.

The prosthetic teeth are set into a gum-colored acrylic (plastic) base. Partial dentures may also include a lightweight metal framework and clasps for added strength and retention, or precision attachments when a more discreet, clasp-free look is preferred. The exact materials are chosen for your fit, comfort, and appearance.

Yes. The gum ridge and underlying bone change shape gradually after teeth are lost, so a denture that once fit well can become loose. A reline reshapes the base to match your gums again, and periodic adjustments help maintain comfort and fit. Regular checkups let your dentist catch fit issues early and reduce the risk of sore spots or irritation.

Remove and rinse your denture after meals, and brush it daily with a denture cleaner rather than abrasive toothpaste. Keep the denture moist at all times — store it in water or a mild soaking solution overnight, because an appliance that dries out can warp or become brittle. Handle it over a towel or basin of water to avoid breakage if dropped.

Yes. An implant-retained or implant-supported denture uses a few dental implants placed in the jaw to snap onto or secure the denture, which improves stability and chewing and can help slow the bone loss that follows tooth loss. Traditional removable dentures remain a minimally invasive, cost-effective option. Schedule a consultation and imaging to determine which approach best fits your needs.
